Final Table Tennis Student Sports Games 2026

It seems that Aurora Hrovatin’s classmates already knew in advance about their friend’s new success (4th place) ... The management of the NTK Škofije club and her coaches were aware of her abilities, but we did not expect such maturity in her game, patience, and perfect tactics. Incredible!

At the same time, we would all like to thank the headmistress of primary school "dr. Aleš Bebler", Hrvatini Aleksadra Pobega, who made it possible for the supporters to attend, as well as the organizer and chaperone Romina Umer.

Since there was only space for 8 passengers in the van with driver Hrovatin Matjaž, many classmates eager to cheer had to stay “at home,” where they still supported Aurora wholeheartedly. Clearly, they were very successful, as Aurora achieved 4th place overall (missing second place by a very small margin)

The lucky fans who attended truly enjoyed the “adventure”/trip – it was a real pleasure to see their connection and genuine friendship. We had a wonderful time! We could probably have filled an entire bus, but that does not depend on the club, rather on the students themselves. We hope to continue celebrating the achievements of the students of PS "dr. Aleš Bebler" – we believe in them too!

An old proverb says: "Where the bull goes, the rope follows" — and our Aurora Hrovatin clearly lives by it. Day by day she is improving, gradually gaining competitive experience, while also achieving one success after another.

This Sunday she had to wake up quite early, as she had over two hours of travel ahead to the town of Luče, where the NTZS Top-8 U-13 tournament (boys and girls under 13) was scheduled. Aurora competed in Group C (ranked 17–24), where she bravely faced more experienced opponents. Despite some initial nerves, which she quickly overcame, she started well and maintained solid play throughout all 7 matches. With a positive record (4 wins, 3 losses), she finished 4th in her group of eight, which places her 20th overall in the national rankings.

TT School 2026 – conclusion

The conclusion of the NT School for the 2025/26 season was a truly memorable experience – cheerful and enthusiastic children aged between eight and twelve, full of positive energy and, above all, a strong desire to win.
All of them showed their progress in the game, while also demonstrating respect for their opponents (fair play). And it seemed that the parents in attendance also enjoyed the cheerful atmosphere.

BrainSpin Training

Preparations to support patients with Parkinson’s disease – the European BrainSpin project – are in full swing. Organized by Alma Mater University, a 3-day workshop (May 5–7, 2026) was held in Ljubljana to train table tennis coaches to work with patients with Parkinson’s disease. The project leader, Prof. Dr. Uroš Marušič, excellently connected top-level lectures delivered by eminent specialists. In a very relaxed atmosphere, we gained a wealth of knowledge and practical advice, all aimed at providing the best possible support to patients with Parkinson’s disease.

The workshop hosted a large number of participants from Slovenia (Marjan Marušič, Marjan Omerzelj, Jadran Bertok, Peter Gregorič, and Bojan Kreft), Italy (Sonja Milič), Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Greece, and Germany (notably Isabell Mayer). The indomitable Karlheinz Reinfrank also shared his personal experience with the disease.

Following the practical implementation of training exercises (4 groups, each successfully demonstrating 4–6 specific exercises), all participants received a Certificate of Completion for the first part of the training.

Success of the youth team

Aurora Hrovatin - winner of the regional primary school competition (Gorenjska, Postojna, Nova Gorica, Koper), grades 5–9, in Gorizia on May 6, 2026.

After a slightly slow start (nerves, pressure – or perhaps too much eagerness), she regrouped and began to show the level of play seen in training. With solid serves and quite good returns, she gradually took full control of the match. After her first win (2:1), she relaxed and defeated all the following opponents 2:0, except for the last one (2:1), when she already knew she had qualified for the next stage.

She received great moral support (clearly with positive effect) from her friend and teammate Lejla.

Also in the next round (semifinal), despite being in worse form that day, she managed to qualify for the final, thus placing among the top eight in Slovenia.

In the final (Griže, 25 May 2026) – another success. Despite being among the youngest (and with only one year of training), she competed among the eight best primary school girls from grades 6 to 9 and achieved an excellent 4th place (just 1 point short of a bronze medal).

Table Tennis Club Škofije in support of people with Parkinson’s disease
On the occasion of Športno jutro with Luka Koper, we were visited in the studio by the president of the Table Tennis Club Škofije, Marjan Marušič. In addition to presenting the club, the achievements of its members, and numerous activities, he also introduced the BrainSpin project, which is intended for the rehabilitation of people with Parkinson’s disease. Studies show that table tennis can improve motor symptoms, balance, and daily activities in patients with Parkinson’s disease. More about the project in the conversation with Marušič:

Our members are also successful in Italy. Our member Alois Brandmayr achieved an excellent result at the Italian Veterans Championship.
Together with Delović Predrag, they won 3rd place in the 75 to 80 age category.

The NTZS tournaments for the veterans and recreational players ranking for the 2025/2026 season have concluded. Our players performed excellently

In the under-39 category, Danijel Kocjančič won 1st place, while Dušan Pakovič finished 3rd.

In the under-39 doubles category, Dušan Paković and Edi Kocjančič won, while Daniel Kocjančič, paired with Tjaš Tence, finished second.

In the 65–69 category, Iztok Čehovin achieved 4th place.
